Nearly two decades ago I was facing a significant dilemma. With two small boys, the family dog, and a husband who traveled constantly, it was becoming very clear that our 1948 Cape Cod home would soon be too small. The thought of trying to find a new home by myself was overwhelming. Then Mark came to my rescue.
Mark Zurek of Delta Renovations was exactly what I needed in making my current home fit my growing family’s needs with a perfectly designed and executed addition. Mark and I worked on blueprints from concept to completion, and he was always there for me. The process took almost 2 years, and I felt like I was the most important person in Mark’s business. As with all of his clients, Mark made me feel special; almost like an older brother who was protective as I was pretty much a single parent and a Wisconsin farm girl, as he liked to tease.
In our business today, we talk details on grout color, lot lines, flooring selection, kitchen design, paint, or simply being that cheerleader letting our clients know we are there to be the professional they want and need to guide them through what sometimes seem like overwhelming choices. At the end of the day, we all know the details matter. What we may forget is our Why? The Why we do it day after day.
Yes, we all want our businesses to develop and prosper. That is what keeps the lights on, but it’s not why we started our businesses in the first place. Our Why is what matters the most and will have us truly thrive.
“To re-imagine the ordinary and turn it into the extraordinary for someone’s home. To confidently honor self-expression and to exceed expectations.”
This is my Why, just as I know as many of you feel the same way about your work. Mark inspired and supported me in becoming the designer that I am today. Everything I learned from Mark, I practice in my own business and actually in my personal life as well … honesty, integrity, attention to detail, a demand for excellence, and a commitment to client satisfaction. This is what I bring to the table and can do for you with your clients.
Let’s talk to see if we are a good fit in working together … to bring excellence to our clients.
Next time, I’ll share with you how I saved one of Mark’s projects that was going downhill fast.
