Lake Geneva Vacation Condo Remodel

Abbey Springs, Fontana, WI

This property had a single owner beginning at the opening of the Abbey Springs Vacation Community at the west end of Geneva Lake in Fontana, Wisconsin in the early 1970’s.  The new owner, who purchased the property in the Fall of 2012, was drawn to renovate the space which had remained virtually unchanged for 40 plus years but was pretty well maintained by the one and only original resident.

The design concept was to create a comfortable, rustic family space which updated the features of Abbey Springs properties; such as the rough-hewn cedar paneling and beams, by giving everything a fresh, casual yet sophisticated aesthetic.  In conjunction with Matustik Builders, Algonquin, IL, Ann Oakes Design created an overall plan to tear out the existing flooring, bathroom interiors and remove the 1970’s lower level bar which definitely had the vintage Playboy Club vibe.  After the demo was completed, everything was painted in a warm and inviting color scheme echoing the beauty of the grounds of Abbey Springs.  Porcelain wood plank tile floors were resourced from Exceed Floor and Home, Crystal Lake, Illinois.  Bathrooms were updated, carpeting was replaced, all light fixtures were updated and kitchen appliances and some minor cabinetry reconfiguration was completed.

After the finishes were complete and a move-in date was set, the space plans created and the furniture selected were moved in to complete this fun interior.  Furniture mostly resourced via Arhaus as well as vintage shops in Chicago, Illinois.  Abt Electronics, Glenview, Illinois, provided new appliances.
