Master Bath Makeover
The goal for this project was to update a 15-year old Master Bath with a freestanding tub as well as updated finishes. This client is soon to reach empty nest status and wanted to both enjoy a spa-like atmosphere for the short term as well as have a beautifully renovated Master Bath to ensure a successful sale once the home is placed on the market in a few years. That said, the objective was to transform the space, and also to select finishes and materials that would appeal to most families. Keeping the bathtub was essential in that sense as well, but we took out the somewhat dated tub deck with the brass faucet and added a freestanding tub with brushed nickel fixtures. For the shower, we also updated to brushed nickel for the faucets and added a larger showerhead as well as a hand held spray for ease of maintenance. We kept the light fixture and vanity simple and fresh. We focused on selecting beautiful tile for both the shower and floor. We feel our overall goal was achieved in creating a spa like sanctuary!
We completed a total renovation by a full demo of the existing bathroom and upgrading all faucets, fixtures and materials. Working in conjunction with Exceed Floor and Home of Crystal Lake, IL we selected a beautiful quartz countertop as well as on trend rectangular limestone tile for the bathroom floor. The shower maintained the same footprint, but we updated the brass sliding glass door to a custom ½” door with brushed nickel hardware. The faucets are from the Cassidy Collection by Delta. The tub is by Maax Jazz White Freestanding Tub and the sinks and toilet are both from the Toto Drake Collection. The vanity manufacturer is Haas. For the shower we chose a beautiful large format gray subway tile with a glass/metal mosaic border. Glass shelves were installed to hold items used in the shower. All design concepts and project management were facilitated by Ann Oakes Design.
