Vintage Cape Cod Entire Home Remodel and Addition

Palatine, IL

This project included a complete renovation of a Cape Cod Style home first constructed in Palatine, Illinois in 1948.  In 2002, the homeowners completed this remodeling project with the services of both Delta Renovations, Barrington, Illinois as well as Kaya Doyle-Architect, Lake Zurich, Illinois.  Plans were carefully created to almost double the size of this wonderful family home. Updates include a new addition with an office, family room, dining area turret, powder room and a state of the art kitchen space on the first floor.  Second story features include an open loft space and 4 newly renovated bedrooms as well as 2 new full bathrooms.  The lower level includes a game room, powder room, workout room and home theater.

The interior of the home is both charming and warm.  Pine cabinets in the kitchen by Crystal Cabinetry and slate flooring by Ann Sachs add to the character.  Wide plank floors by Carlisle were installed throughout the first floor.  Built-in features include custom cabinetry in the home office.  Artifactural Furniture, Barrington, Illinois, constructed a rustic entertainment center in the family room and also installed a beautiful update for the living room fireplace. Paint colors throughout are by Benjamin Moore and include #1546 as a “vintage” trim color as well as Shelburne Buff, Providence Olive and Stratton Blue.  Light fixtures resourced via Idlewood Electric, Barrington, Illinois.

Overall, this spacious home has served the family well as their children have grown from grade school kids into college kids.   This client looks forward to enjoying the space for many years to follow.  All interiors by Ann Oakes Design, Palatine, Illinois.
